2 Day Report Tim’s and Normandy

Normandy 12-8-2020 001 Normandy 12-8-2020 002

I fished Normandy yesterday caught 5 with the 2 above being the best. Big fish was 3.38lbs and all caught on a Rapala DT6 Caribbean Shad www.rapala.com and Sufix 6lb Pro Mix Mono www.sifix.com. Water temp was 48 degrees and all the fish were on shallow gravel. Today I fished Tim’s with the intent of spending the day throwing a float & fly which I did for 2 hours with no takers. So I picked up the VMC Weedless JIg www.vmchooks.com and soft plastics and caught 8 Smallmouth and 5 Largemouth (BUT) no keepers. Every fish was holding close to cover and the thicker the better. Water temp was 53 degrees-and no sign of turn over in the areas of Normandy or Tim’s that I fished. That’s all for this week. Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com

Fished Normandy this morning from 7 am until 12:30 pm caught and released 3 Spots-2 Largemouth biggest was 3 1/4lb and 1 17inch Smallmouth all on a Rapala DT6 Red Craw www.rapala.com and Sufix 6lb Clear Blue Pro Mix Mono www.sufix.com  Water temp was between 56 and 58 every where I fished. I think we should be having turnover soon-this normally helps after it settles. More later this week Lord willing. Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com

Everything on Rapala DT6’s in Shad colors. Way to go guys.

I fished Tim’s today from 8am until 3pm. I caught and released 20 Smallmouth for the day. 18 were short all ranging between 10 ind 14 inches but 2 were  right at 19 inches each. Everything on soft plastics rigged on a 3/32 VMC Weedless Finesse Jig. www.vmchooks.com  Sufix 20lb braid and a long 8lb Sufix fluorocarbon leader.  www.sufix.com   More Thursday Lord willing. Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com Water temp was 64 degrees and the normal Tim’s water clarity.

Lake Hartwell October 25-27-20

I fished Lake Hartwell  with long time friend Tim White catching and releasing 54 Spots. I have a ton of pictures but the ones above will give you a good idea of what we caught. Our largest was right at 3lb and all were caught on 2 techniques (1) Top Water (2) Soft Plastics. I was throwing a  Blue Mullet Rapala Skitter Walk which is my first go to  “Walk The Dog” Action Bait The Sitter Walk swims perfectly right out of the box and has been super reliable for me year after year. www.rapala.com  I’m going to sound like a broken record at this point but soft plastics rigged on a VMC 3/16th Weedless Finesse Jig paid off big time again. You can toss these into lay downs-rocks and other structure with little to no hand ups. I think in 2 1/2 days I was hung 2 or 3 times max. The stainless steel Weedguard works fantastic. The hollow back of the head allows you to snug your bait close for a better natural presentation. A dab of glue and your good to go.  www.vmchooks,com Line of choice is always Sufix. I like Sufix 20lb Yellow Braid with a long Sufix 6 or 8 lb Sufix  fluorocarbon leader-this combination gives you great casting  distance with these smaller light weight baits but still with a tremendous amount of sensitivity. www.sufix.com  Good fishing with a good friend-hard to beat. Post For Week Beginning 9-21-2020

Thankfully the 90 degrees and high humidity is gone and I can get back on the water for more than a couple hours at a time. Ronnie and I fished Tim’s on Monday had 9 on and put 7 Smallmouth in the boat (No 18 inch keepers) everything on soft plastics and a VMC Finness Weedless Jig www.vmchooks.com  and Sufix Braid with a Sufix Fluorocarbon leader. www.sufix.com today I fished Center Hill alone had 4 Smallmouth, 2 Largemouth and 4 Spots. (No 15 inch Largemouth or keeper Smallmouth) the 4 Spots were all in the 12 inch range.  2 of my 10 hit the NEW Green Gizzard Shad  DT6. Check the new colors out at Rapala.com Total for the week 17 in the boat no keepers. HOWEVER I’m thankful to be back on the water. Main Lake Water temp on Tim’s  and Center Hill  was 76. More Lord willing next week. Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides

The pictures above are my best in recent trips I caught several smaller fish as well.. I know I told this before-but every since I had a heat stroke several years ago-high temps and humidity is a killer for me-I just don’t last long. So my trips are in the 3 hour range depending on the heat.  Most of what I have caught has been on a VMC Weedless Finesse Jig www.vmchooks.com and soft plastics rigged on Sufix 20lb Braid with a 8lb Fluorocarbon leader www.sufix.com . I have also caught several Texas rigging a black trick worm on a VMC Finesse Keko hook with a VMC Tungsten bullet weight. I like the adjustable Fluorocarbon Keeper on these hooks-they work great.  I will have more post and info to post as the temps begin to decline-until then stay safe on the water a don’t think you 10 feet tall and bullet proff when it comes to getting to much sun. Braxton Campbell Qualities For Bassmasters High School Championship

Braxton Tourney Pic

Congratulations to  Braxton for qualifying as a sophomore  for the Bassmasters High School National Championship Tournament that will be held on Kentucky Lake October 22-24.   Braxton in entering his Jr. year at Warren County High School and fishes with his partner Lane for the Pioneer Anglers Warren County Team.  This was no small accomplishment because there was 304 boats  in the Central Tennessee Region and Braxton and Lane fished 5th over all. Braxton comes from a fishing family and has honed his skills under the watchful eyes of his father (Jason) and his grandfather (Billy) who is also the boats captain.  I know that all us are proud of Braxton and Lane and will be pulling for them on Kentucky Lake.
