Normandy 1-31-2017
My best 5 of 9 total today on Normandy. Usually the Rapala DT6 Red Craw or the DT6 Demon pays off on Normandy trip in trip out. BUT today was different, I struggled around early catching only 2 on the Red Craw and then I switched to a Rapala DT6 Parrot and the next 7 came on that www.rapala.com. I remembered a trip that Billy Campbell and I had on Normandy years ago and the same thing happened to us then. We switched to a chartreuse and blue bait and that was the ticket. There was NO WIND for most of the day and a bright blue cold front sky-so-I’m happy with the results. I throw the DT6 on Sufix 6lb Clear Blue Pro Mix-my line of choice hands down www.sufix.com Thanks for visiting my site-more later this week. Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com
Normandy 1-24-2017
This is the first time I have been able to get back on the lake since Daniel’s accident and it was a very good day. Ronnie and I caught 15 total mix of Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spots and Crappie. Because of the recent rains the lake had great cranking color and that’s exactly what we did. We caught fish on a Rapala Demon DT6 and Red Craw all in 5 to 6 feet of water www.rapala.com and they would hammer the baits. Big fish 4lbs 11oz released live and well. We both use Sufix mono www.sufix.com I like the Clear Blue Pro Mix and Ronnie has settled in on the Hi-Vis Yellow. This will be it until next week, Daniel has his jaw operated on tomorrow at Vanderbilt and I will stay close to home. Until then thanks for visiting my site. Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com
Up Date On Daniel
Burn appointment today went very very well, it doesn’t appear that grafting will be necessary. He will have a surgery this Thursday on his jaw. And we have yet to have our appointment with the hearing folks. All the prayer support has been wonderful and the Lord has touched-is touching and will touch Daniel as he heals from this accident. Thank you for you support… Rick

Southern 30 mph winds and gust up to 45mph that is what I heard this morning on Channel 2 News and at first I thought “No I’ll Just Stay Home” But I headed out anyway picked out a ramp on the south side and the results were 11 total hits 7 in the boat and the best 4 are pictured above. All my fish came out of 42 to 44 degree water in less than 5 feet deep. Not unusual for Tim’s in the winter-you just have to SLOOOOW DOWN-The 2 baits I used are pictured above as well. A Rapala River Shad DT6 and a 4 inch Rapala Helsinki Shad Husky Jerk www.rapala.com. I threw both of these on 6lb test Sufix Clear Blue Pro Mix—–I had 3 hits on the Jerk Bait and the others on the DT6. These 2 lures will be good on Tim’s all winter long-pick some up-tie them on 6lb Sufix mono-slow down and you will see what I’m talking about. Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com

Ken and I put in at Holiday Marina this morning at 8:15am-We had freezing fog when I left the house but by the time we got to the ramp it had cleared off. Water temp in low 50’s with color. All we did was throw Tuffy’s and the results was 13 Smallmouth. We both used Clear Blue Sufix 6lb mono www.sufix.com and VMC Circle Hooks www.vmchooks.com on 7 1/2 foot m/l rods—you talking about fun-these brown fish didn’t give easily—-Just a great time with a good friend. One here one there but they were good one’s. Our best came on 2 different Rapala Jerk Baits. A Rapala Haymaker Shadow Rap Shad and a Rapala Helsinki Shad Husky Jerk www.rapala.com. Ronnie and I both were using Sufix Mono www.sufix.com I don’t think there is a trip that go’s by that Ronnie doesn’t talk about how much he loves the various Sufix lines that he uses-each weight are small dia—strong and casts like a dream. Sure makes things a lot easier. Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com
Normandy Crappie 11-25-2016
Ronnie and I fished Normandy this morning and had 10 Crappie that weighed in at 11lbs 11oz. We both use 6lb Sufix High Vis Yellow www.sufix.com which helps tremendously when the bite is light. Unless you have used 6lb Sufix you have no idea how strong this line is-which is handy of course when you are fishing the trees with exposed hooks. Ronnie was throwing a small bug on a 1/32 ounce head and I went the traditional way with a float-small split shot VMC Bait Keeper Hooks www.vmchooks.com and a small minnow. We caught them any where from 20 feet deep to 5 feet deep—just had to keep looking. Smallmouth Monday Lord willing. Thanks for visiting my site. Rick www.tennesseebassguides.com ****Note*** Normandy ramps are getting very if’y-be careful-hopefully the rain we are suppose to get will happen this time.
