Center Hill 5-24-2019 Billy & Braxton

IMG_0995 IMG_0998 IMG_0999 IMG_1001

Billy sent me these pictures from his and Braxton’s  trip on CH yesterday. Bill said they caught 24 total with 6 keepers. I don’t know much more than that except Braxton has been taught well. He was the only freshman to letter at Warren Co. High School on the fishing team this year and finished high in the state standings as well.  I’m sure he will wear Billy out this summer wanting to be on the water everyday.  Way to go Braxton!!!!!   Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com

The ones above are the best of 11 that we put in the boat today from 6 am until noon.  Sufix Braid and Fluorocarbon leader  www.sufix.com and a VMC Weedless Finesse Jig. www.vmchook.com All for this week. Earlier this week when Robert and I was on Tim’s I hung and lost a couple Largemouth in lay downs.  We were looking for Smallmouth so we didn’t concentrate on on wood. I got to thinking about that yesterday so I went to Tim’s today to solely fish wood with 1 bait alone.  A new 6 inch soft plastic  that I like a lot. I fished 1 arm of a major creek and that was it.  I went up one side and down the other. I fished from 6 am until 11:30 am and what you see above is the result.  I used a VMC 7311 Fast Grip Wide Gap # 2/0 hook and pegged it with a VMC  3/16 oz Tungsten Worm Weight www.vmchooks.com I used Sufix 10 lb Pro Mix www.sufix.com  Thankfully I never lost a fish today-If I got a bite in came over the rails.  My curiosity paid off. Robert sorry for cutting your head off in these pictures-I’ll do better next time. We put in right at day light and got off to a slow start. We moved several times and then found 2 areas that payed off. If Robert had a good partner today(that would be me)  there would have been 9 yes 9 more pictures. I either couldn’t keep stuck or I couldn’t get them out of the lay downs. I had my chances and didn’t make the best of them.  No equipment malfunctions just operator error. Everything on soft plastics today.  Sufix mono and braid www.sufix.com  VMC Weedless Finesse Jigs www.vmchooks.com Thanks for visiting my site Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com

Ken and I got on some “Big” Shellcrackers this morning on CH. The big ones ranged from 12 to 13 inches and 1 3/4 lb to 2 lbs.  All on ultra lights. I was using Sufix 4lb mono www.sufix.com a VMC Aberdeen # 8 hook wwwvmchooks.com a small split shot and a piece of night crawler. They would strip drag and dig deep-a lot of fun with a good friend. I had a fun day on Tim’s catching and releasing 14 Smallmouth (all about the size you see above-No Keepers) 3 Hybrids-1 Nice Walleye-8 Rockbass and 1 Channel Cat. A mixture for sure. The Hybrids hit the new Rapala Waking Minnow pictured above.  I really believe that this is going to be one fantastic lure. The Rapala Waking Minnow is a Top Water Lure that has a Balsa Core with a durable Copolymer Outer Shell and Creates Huge Surface Wake simply by keeping your rod tip up and a steady retrieve–no additional action needed. Anyone can use this bait. The Waking Minnow has a Flashing Rolling Action and it isn’t only for Bass but as you can see Strippers/Hybrids as well. It’s equipped with 3 sets of VMC Black Nickel Round Bend Hooks. The Waking Minnow comes in 8 colors and is 5 ¼ inches in length and weight 3/4oz which helps with making long casts. Check it out at www.rapala.com Click on Top Water Baits. I also caught several on a Rapala DT6 River Shad and soft plastics on a VMC Finesse Weedless Jig www.vmchooks.com  Sufix Mono and Braid on all rods (wouldn’t have anything else_ www.sufix.com. I was happy to get Ronnie out in the boat today for a little while. We fished about 4 hours and had 9 total Largemouth with the 3 above being our best.  Everything on soft plastics and a weedless  3/32oz VMC Finesse Jig www.vmchooks.com  Every time I fish with Ronnie he always talks about how much he likes the 8lb Sufix Mono and how strong it is. www.sufix.com  We had a good time-please keep Ronnie in your prayers he is dealing with some heart issues and he tires out pretty quickly.  He’s a great guy and friend. I fished Tim’s today and had a good time even though I never put a big fish in the boat. I caught and released 17 all about the size that you see above on the Same Rapala Rip Stop that I caught several on a couple week ago. (See posts below) If you haven’t fished a Rip Stop yet you need to pick up at least 1 and give it a try, Today I fished it just like a swim bait except I would pause a couple time on my retrieve and  they nailed it. www.rapala.com I fished the Rip Stop on Sufix 6lb Clear Blue Pro mix. After  the heat and air guy comes tomorrow morning I’m headed to Normandy to fish with Ronnie. He hasn’t been feeling  up to par but I talked him in to going for a while. Thanks for visiting my site. Well our my first day out with my oldest son Rick Jr. and his life long friend Terry went well considering we battled 30mph winds most of the day.  The ones above are all separate fish and our best. WE lost 8 or 9 additional good fish because they would tail walk and you know the story from there. WE threw everything in the boat but they wanted the presentation slow and slower which wasn’t as easy with the wind. I think we are going to set tomorrow out and shoot for Saturday. Sufix only on all my reels from Braid to Mono the absolute best on the market as far as I’m  concerned.  If you try Sufix you will stay with Sufix…www.sufix.com VMC Finesse Weedless Jigs and soft plastics. www.vmchooks.com  Rick McFerrin www.tennesseebassguides.com
